Welcome, everyone! Welcome! Thank you all for coming to my show starring me: Georgina Giraffe!
~ Georgina, beginning her performance to the other animals in the savanna.
Georgina 1

Georgina

Georgina the Giraffe is a giraffe who lives in Africa. She is the tallest of all animals in Africa.

Personality

In almost every episode, Georgina knocks on Lucy's window to come out to the zoo to meet the animals. This can indicate that she thinks of Lucy who is friends with her.

Georgina is eventually very kind in helping other animals in Africa. She is eventually polite to the other animals whom she encounters. In spite of this, she is also shown to be social in having a conversation with others (often using them in a gossip-like manner) - particularly Audrey, Molly, or Nathalie while Giggles and Tickles would occasionally make her laugh. She is also comfortable of of being fond with other animals besides these with Herbet and Ronald the Rhino accompanied by his Tic Tic Bird.

Physical Appearance

Georgina is a yellow giraffe with blue spots.

Trivia

  • Georgina is An Vrombaut's favourite character, alongside Herbert. Additionally, Vrombaut's favourite animal is the giraffe.
  • Georgina is based on a reticulated giraffe.
  • Georgina and Lucy are also mascots of 64 Zoo Lane often seen in many merchandise inspired by the series.
  • Georgina has a different voice in the American version done by Lobster Films. She is voiced by Diane Perry.
  • It is stated that in "The Story of the Dawn Chorus" that Georgina's unique sound is when she vocalises. Although suggested to be mute animals in real life, giraffes were recorded to communicate occasionally uttering bleating or mooing noises.
  • Her favourite foods are Bumbleberries (especially Bumbleberry Soup) and Juicy Fruit (a fruit that appeared in "The Story of the Juicy Fruit Tree").[1]
    • Despite this, Georgina was not seen in said episode's story where she and the other animals were working together to retrieve the Juicy Fruit from the tree itself.
  • Out of all the characters in 64 Zoo Lane, Georgina is the tallest of all of them, being a giraffe.
  • Georgina is the first character whose name starts with the letter "G".
  • Georgina has a grandmother as revealed in Season 2.
  • Georgina is the only storyteller not from North America that tells stories that take place in North America.
    • Also, she is the last storyteller that tells stories outside her hometown.
  • According to An Vrombaut, Georgina was inspired by the paper mâché model of a giraffe of the same name during development of the series, which was made fourteen years before the series aired. The Georgina model served as an inspiration of the character of the same name from 64 Zoo Lane.
    • Georgina got her name around the time before the series was created where An Vrombaut's niece wanted to call the paper mâché giraffe "George", but Vrombaut herself decided to stick with "Georgina" (although the series was not in production around the time the Georgina model was made).[1]
