Ribbit helping Joey

Ribbit the Frog is a green frog who lives in the Australian outback.

Physical Appearance

Ribbit looks like one of the incidental frogs from Africa. He is shown to have a lime-green coloration all over his body with three toes on his feet and a pair of small black nostrils below his eyes.

Personality

Ribbit often blurts out the word "Ribbit" (which is the sound of a croaking frog) multiple times in occasions where he appears. Like any typical frog, he often hops to other spots for movement. He also shows a very helpful personality. When he met Joey who is unable to jump, he comforts him to give him his confidence by giving him boots that helps him how to jump like any other kangaroo. This hints that Ribbit shows empathy to those who need help - especially when it comes to Joey who is unable to jump for a jumping competition.

Trivia

  • Ribbit's name is an English onomatopoeic term that refers to the croaking sound of frogs and toads.
  • Ribbit is the first frog to speak.
  • He is the only frog to be given a unique name (not counting the other three in Africa).
  • He is based on a green tree frog.
  • Ribbit is one of the few animals to have a major redesign in Adobe Flash. He has a different size without the common model of a frog in traditional animation.
  • Ribbit himself had to wear jumping boots when he was little as revealed by explaining to Joey while teaching him how to jump like the other kangaroos. Ribbit as a little frog was never pictured nor seen in the cartoon.
  • In the book adaptation of "The Story of Joey the Kangaroo", Ribbit's name was misspelled as "Ribit".
