Must you always whistle the same tune?!
~ Ronald, getting annoyed by the Tic Tic Bird's whistling.
Ronald

Ronald

Ronald the Rhino is a rhinoceros who lives in Africa.

Physical Appearance

Ronald has gray colors to resemble that of a black rhinoceros. Unlike his real-life counterpart, Ronald has no visible nostrils. As a common characteristic of all pachyderms in the series, Ronald has wrinkles on each of his four legs.

Personality

Ronald shows a very helpful personality with other animals all across Africa, including Zed, Nelson, and others. Located on his back is the Tic Tic Bird, an oxpecker who serves as Ronald's companion, often helping him consume the ticks off of Ronald's back to help him feel comfortable. Most occasions would often show Ronald having the Tic Tic Bird on his back - especially when he appears in scenes with crowds.

In spite of his friendly personality, Ronald has an interest in smashing boulders thanks to his mighty horn particularly in areas full of boulders (specifically the mountain area which is filled with lots of boulders). This is often used as a favorite hobby of his whenever he is at the territory full of rock formations.

Throughout Ronald's relationship with his love interest Rosie during a story centered on him and the latter, the former attempted to attract her to help her love him, but several attempts resulted in a failure, causing Rosie to become disgusted by most of Ronald's attempts. However, with Ronald in danger, Rosie even helped save him when he was stuck in a river thanks to her own Tic Tic Bird who helped save Ronald from danger, causing Ronald to finally fall in love with Rosie.

  • Both, Ronald and Rosie took the role of Romeo and Juliet in Episode 37. If one counted William, then this would be another reference to Shakespeare.
  • Despite being able to swim, deeper water is too heavy for a rhino to swim in real life.
  • His name and appearance may be an allusion to "James and the Giant Peach", a novel by Roald Dahl. His appearance is alluded with a giant rhino who ate James's parents. "Ronald" also comes from "Roald Dahl", the author of the novel.
  • His first appearance was actually in Episode 7, despite being shown in the opening song. He is seen dancing with the other animals alongside Kevin after Kevin saved Toby and Doris from Victor.
