Summary

Main Zoo

Most of the animals are very tired and have fallen asleep. Georgina is the only animal who is able to tell a story, reminding her of Reginald who had a quiet day when he was at Africa.

Story

One quiet day in Africa, Reginald likes to sleep in the tall grass. Everything is quiet until Nathalie started chewing the grass near his resting spot. He convinces her to eat grass somewhere else while trying to get some sleep. Reginald decided to get some rest. Later, he finds out Zed chewing near the grass. He convinces him to chew grass somewhere else. Reginald goes back to sleep in an upset mood.

Reginald hears the stomping noise caused by Ronald, who is trampling the grass near his resting spot. He convinces him to trample the grass somewhere else. Reginald goes back to sleep in order to avoid being grumpy. Lastly, Nelson is getting grass to build a new nest for Audrey. Nelson and Audrey are talking to each other about the grass. Reginald gets very angry with too much noise. He convinces everyone to interact with the grass somewhere else.

Right, I am trying to get some sleep! So please, clear off! And do your munching, trampling, galloping, and chewing somewhere else!
~ Reginald, getting very angry about too much noise.

The animals moved far away to avoid making noises; however, as Reginald continued his nap, Herbert, who is looking for truffles across Africa, is unaware that he is entering Reginald's resting spot, much to the other animals feeling worried that he should not make noises near Reginald, much to Nelson's warning about going past Reginald. Very angry, Reginald wakes up in a cranky mood, planning to use mud to secure his resting place, as he draws a line near the grass, so no one can make noise nor pass to his resting place. The brown line that Reginald drew prevents animals from entering the tall grass. Soon as the animals leave, Reginald continued to have his peaceful nap

Later, Reginald is left alone for a very long time. Everything was quiet when Reginald goes back to sleep; however, the grass began to grow and Reginald was unaware of the grass growing in his resting spot. Lots of crickets, beetles, and bugs entered the grass and made noises, unaware of Reginald sleeping in his resting spot. The insects starting chirping and clicking noisily and wake up Reginald sleeping inside the grass. As Reginald finds himself lost in the grass, he roars loudly, attempting to find a way out of the grass. He was able to get out of the grass albeit in a nervous mood.

Soon as Reginald began calling out for help, all the animals began to ignore him, as they thought he wanted them to leave him alone. As no animal responded to Reginald, he felt very miserable when the animals have ignored him. Soon as Reginald speaks, the animals suddenly overhear Reginald's sadness, causing them to approach Reginald. The animals then apologize for making noises that bother Reginald, who later replies and apologizes for his grumpy attitude. As a result, the animals start to clear most of the tall grass, reducing the grass' size until Reginald tells them to save this patch of grass to become a future home for the insects.

Moral Ending

The episode's moral is about the importance of moderation between the habits of being noisy and being quiet as well as being courteous of others who are having a peaceful nap. Additionally, the moral also shows a theme of self-improvement - Reginald told the animals to give him a quiet nap in the tall grass until many insects woke him up, so he asked the animals for help to clear the tall grass, so the situation doesn't get as worse as before.

After Georgina tells the story to Lucy, she replies to her that she would like to sleep with the animals in the zoo. However, Lucy must sleep in her own bed instead, so Georgina takes her to bed so she can sleep in her room instead of sleeping with the animals at the zoo.

Trivia

  • Beginning in this episode, the opening theme uses the same footage from the previous season, but all the texts originally in yellow coloring are altered in a pattern of purple and green coloring in this season. Additionally, the logos for Zoo Lane Productions and Millimages appear at the start of the episode, replacing the yellow texts where the title "64 Zoo Lane" appears.
    • Unlike in the first season, the 64 Zoo Lane logo remains on the door when Lucy talks in the opening theme, whereas in the first season, the word "Zoo Lane" on the title screen disappear when Lucy opens the door.
  • This is the premiere of Season 2.
  • This episode is alluded to a popular song known as "The Lion Sleeps Tonight". There are a difference between two allusions. In the universe, Reginald is angry at the animals to be quiet. Out of the universe, the animals are scared by a lion (not Reginald) trying to get some sleep.
  • A reused scene of the insects on the tall grass was reused again in "The Story of the Dawn Chorus". However, while this scene where the insects are on the tall grass was reused from that episode, Reginald himself does not appear in it.
