Confuse-us the Carp (also known as Confuse-us the Wise) is a male carp who lives in the Mirror Lake at the So-Hi Mountains.

Physical Appearance

Confuse-us has an orange coloration all over his body: his orange scales each having an orange palette from solid to light orange with a pair of eyebrows located above his eyes. Each of Confuse-us' fins have a solid orange coloration matching his body as well as his tail. He also has four whiskers and two nostrils. He also has pale sky-blue mouth as well as having a pair of pale sky-blue eyelids.

Personality

Confuse-us shows a wise personality - often giving advice to other animals who are having problems whether it comes to Horace, Gertie, Cassandra, or Bao Bao. Living in the Mirror Lake area, he is often seen submerged in his home resting; however, when one hits the gong near his home, Confuse-us would often emerge and give other characters advice when it comes to problems they are experiencing.

He is the first and only character that is a fish.
- He is also the only fish that talks in the series.
He is based on a Chinese carp.
He is the second animal that only lives on water. The other is Thelma.
Confuse-us is the only character to have eyelids.
- However, in one scene in The Story of Henrietta the Hairy Hippo, Henrietta herself is depicted with visible eyelids in one scene.
Confuse-us' name is a parody of "Confucius", a legendary Chinese figure.
- He was renamed to "Yin Yang" in the French version. The name is a reference to a traditional Chinese symbol that connects the balance between good and evil. That is where his French name comes from. Both, Yin Yang and "Confucius" come from Chinese culture.
- In the Latin American Spanish dub, he was called "Confucio", a direct translation of the Spanish name for "Confucius".
He is never shown out of water in animation.
